cracking open a maracuyá

Also known as the passionfruit, the yellow maracuyá is a semi-soft ovoid fruit with a juicy, seed-filled interior. While its insides are similar in appearance to those of a curuba, the maracuja is sweeter and less tart in taste. A combination of lemon, guava and pineapple, nothing screams, “tropical!” more than this plant of paradise.

Seth and I shared one today as we enjoyed our laziest Sunday in Bogotá yet. After a long and arduous week at work, sometimes nothing feels better than a little rest and relaxation. That, and a “Dawson’s Creek” marathon. (But please, don’t tell anyone.)
